How the Managing Miscellania calculator works
Managing Miscellania lets you send workers to gather resources for your kingdom once you have finished the Throne of Miscellania quest. This calculator simulates the days you choose: how the coffer is spent, how approval decays, how many resources you collect and what they are worth at current Grand Exchange prices.
Quick facts
- Royal Trouble unlocks Etceteria: 15 workers instead of 10, a bigger coffer, slower approval decay and the hardwood and farming tasks.
- Resources can be collected once per day. Collections and wage deductions happen at midnight UTC.
- The coffer holds up to 5,000,000 coins (7,500,000 after Royal Trouble). The daily wage is 10% of the coffer, capped at 50,000 coins (75,000 after Royal Trouble).
- A coffer of at least 500,000 coins (750,000 after Royal Trouble) keeps you at the full daily wage.
- Approval ranges from 25% to 100% and decays by 2.5% per day (1% after Royal Trouble). It directly affects your daily yield.
- Each task takes at most 10 workers. Idle workers cost the same wages as busy ones, so leaving any idle wastes money.
- Resources are delivered straight to your bank, which means ultimate ironmen cannot take part. Collection stops building up after roughly 8 months.
Maximum daily yield per task
With 15 workers available (Royal Trouble), 10 workers on the task and a coffer of at least 750,000 coins, the wiki lists these maximums per day:
| Task | Maximum per day |
|---|---|
| Herbs / Flax | 61 grimy herbs, or 1,250 flax |
| Fishing | 440 tuna and 132 swordfish |
| Mining | 546 coal |
| Woodcutting | 892 maple logs |
| Hardwood | 301 teak, or 223 mahogany, or 121 of each |
| Farming | 481 seeds |
Tips
- Keep approval at 100% for the best yield. You can raise it by doing tasks on Miscellania, such as raking weeds (Farming 10), mining coal (Mining 30), chopping maple logs (Woodcutting 45) or fishing (Fishing 35).
- Finishing the medium or elite Fremennik Diary improves your chance of gaining approval from those tasks.
- You can move workers to a different task right before you collect, and the output is worked out from the new assignment. That lets you match tasks to whatever is most valuable today.
- Profit depends on Grand Exchange prices, which change all the time. This calculator loads live prices so the numbers stay current.
Frequently asked questions
Is Managing Miscellania profitable?
It usually is when the coffer is topped up and approval stays high, but it depends on current prices. Compare the loot value against the coffer draw in the results to see your profit for the days you simulated.
What do "keep coffer fixed" and "keep approval fixed" mean here?
They simulate a player who always tops the coffer back up to the starting amount, or who keeps approval at its starting level, so you can see the best case without decay or a shrinking coffer.
How many days should I simulate?
Whatever suits your plan. Thirty days is a good default for a month of regular collecting. Remember that yield is capped once roughly 8 months of resources have built up.
Why are Hardwood and Farming locked?
Both are Etceteria tasks, so they only become available after Royal Trouble. Tick the Royal Trouble box in the calculator to unlock them.
